The homeless population in Charlotte has a large community called “Tent City.” During the pandemic, the homeless individuals living in this area were relocated to hotels, however, they didn’t have necessary hygiene or food items. Project Downtown CLT serves the homeless community by providing food, clothing, shelter and other daily necessities. In the spring, the Chapter’s Leadership Committee organized a service project to raise $438 to purchase items such as toilet paper, shampoo, toothbrushes, soap, towels, washcloths, socks, granola bars. A total of 990 items were donated to the homeless community.
